I have been having a mini crush on tiles recently.
They are architectural patchwork.
Tessellating treasures.
When we renovated our bathroom a few years ago I really wanted Moroccan floor tiles, but they proved too expensive for our limited budget.
I then had an idea to use vintage tiles as a splashback in our downstairs toilet, but I couldn’t find enough suitable ones cheaply enough in time for the tiler’s timetable.
We ended up with a couple of the large, plain bathroom wall tiles leftover from upstairs. One day they will be banished…
We are lucky enough to have a beautiful genuine Minton tile hall floor in our house, which is badly in need of cleaning and repair. If anyone knows of someone who does that sort of thing for less than the thousands we have so far been quoted, please let me know.
We also have beautiful tiles in our downstairs fireplaces and porch, which you can see here.
And there is another fireplace and hearth in the front bedroom with genuine Victorian, but very broken (and I think also rather ugly) tiles.
I lie in bed and fantasise about replacing them.
My tile thirst is definitely unquenched.
So please, indulge me in a little tile titillation.

What a gorgeous post. I really love that bathroom floor.
Me too! Pity its not ours!
