This is one of my favourite summer frocks.
An Oxfam buy from years ago, it is cool, comfortable and has seen me through a good few holidays.
I love the fabric. It reminds me of vintage sheets.
But horror!
On removing it from the wardrobe to wash for its annual outing – well, I can’t wear it smelling “cupboardy” – I noticed a rip!
Its at the neck, so I suppose I could just pin it with a brooch, but it might get worse.
Time for a spot of frock renovation.
Just the job for a bit of hand sewing on the sofa this evening.
Dreaming of hot days to come.

Yikes!! Far too pretty a dress to just stick a brooch on and hope for the best. It really looks like it is made of vintage sheet fabric – gorgeous! x
I wonder if that’s a Pat Albeck print?….
The dress has been hand made, so no labels. You’re probably better placed to say than I! It’d be lovely to know if it is. I do LOVE the print – and Pat’s designs, as I’ve mentioned before!
I’ll ask her when I get the chance…
Oh no and yes you must try – it looks so lovely.
Could you make a pattern from it and sew another up with some of your lovely fabric?
Nina x
Never made anything from a pattern before… but I might have to try, as it may not last another summer.
Fingers crossed your lovely rejuvenated summer dress will bring the sun out of its hiding place! Hope you manage to repair it!
Mmmm we have some sheets like that in our vintage sheet pile. They always remind us of lying in a summer meadow (well a bit of romantic imagination never hurt anyone I say!)
Hoping to be doing lots of lying in a summer meadow over the next couple of weeks!
Wonderful. Have a lovely holiday,
