The idea struck as I was trying to get to sleep.
Why don’t I try making a flower-shaped cushion!
This is the result of my initial experiment.
I haven’t finished sewing up the seam after stuffing (don’t look too closely – its been pinned for the photos!)
And I’m not sure its quite right yet – perhaps six petals instead of five?
Or “tufted” with a cover button in the middle?
What do you think?

I really like it! I’ve got a soft spot for 5 petalled flowers, but 6 could be nice too – I think you should play around with the idea, see what you like best – but I think it’s a great idea. x
I like it. Think it will look nice either way – with or without a button. If you choose a nice button, it could give it a finished look. I also like that little “bird” dish hanging on the wall in your first pic. Kinda cute.
Thank you! The little bird dish is 1960s Carlton Ware. I have a small collection of them.
no, it’s great as it is with 5 petals… 6 would be too balanced and thus more boring. and i totally like the large centre panel in contrasting pattern.
Thanks! Also thinking of experimenting with a round cushion with more petals, with the petals unstuffed like trim. Might give that a go later if I get today’s main project done.
