I’d never been to a vintage fair before.
Hard as that may be to believe, it is true.
A hard-core charity shop aficionado, market maven and jumble sale rummager, the vintage fair phenomenon had managed to pass me by.
Until yesterday.
The event was within walking distance and organised by a local charity shop. Entry was free and my friend had a stall. So I went along.
I found treasures…
The vintage baby bonnet pictured above will be a present for my friend’s new baby girl, once I have lined it with soft fabric and possibly edged it with antique lace from my stash…
The fabric it is made from is beautiful:
Next up, fabrics (of course). 1930s vintage for a change:

And a rather spiffy red vase from my friend’s very stylish stall:
And for some reason I just couldn’t resist this:
I think she looks perfect gazing down from the mantlepiece in the living room.
I love little oddities ♥

Great finds! And it looks like you live in a pretty house, too
Thank you! We’ve done a fair bit to the house since we moved here 6 years ago and it has some pretty features, but there are still plenty of areas that need work!
fantastic fabric…am very envious…great finds!
I love her although my girls wouldn’t let her in the house!
I haven’t been to a vintage fair either and would love too, please could you let me know when the next one is? They are all so far away! You can email me on vintageaddict.virginmedia.com Thanks! Ada
I’m not sure if there’ll be another fair like this one, I think it was a one-off. But i do know of one other that is held in the Albert Hall regularly. When lad gets done shooting zombies on the computer I’ll look up the details for you.
Update on the above: the lady in the charity shop says she hopes to do another fair before Christmas, with a Santa’s grotto and proper vintage teas! She’s looking for a different venue. I’ll update you when I know any more.
Would love to see the bonnet when its finished
Lovely finds … the 30′s fabric is lovely and I am strangely drawn to Baldie too …have a lovely weekend … Bee xx
Loving your lampshade too!
Thanks! Made from scraps sewn onto bias binding and wound round an old Ikea shade – another use for teeny weeny bits of fabric!
Lovely finds! I’m not normally that into red, but I love that vase and the leafy fabric. And yes I love Baldie too, she’s great! x
What gorgeous fabric! I can’t wait to see the finished bonnet.
Hurrah for little oddities. Smashing lampshade too!
