lucky pinny

I am not normally the lucky type of soul that attracts free gifts and wins competitions wherever I go.

I’ve had my moments, but generally speaking my luck confines itself to areas of life not involving competitions of random chance.

Until now.

I won something!

Georgina Giles is a mistress of monsters and sewing maven extraordinaire.

Following her exploits on her lovely blog qualified me for inclusion in her Present in the Post giveaway. Into the hat – or rather vintage glass jar – my name went. And out it was subsequently pulled!

I am now the lucky owner of a lovely pinny, made by her own fair hand.

Thanks Georgina!

Be sure to subscribe to her blog. Not only can you find out how to make a pinny all of your own, but your name might be next out of the jar!

brown paper packages…

…not tied up with strings, but definitely one of my favourite things.

Especially this one.

Fellow blogger Rachel, of My Rainbow Vintage Home, was clever enough to realise that two vintage fabric collectors are better than one.

She suggested that we do a little postal swap-a-rama from our respective stashes.

A mutual birthday treat, from one vintage fabric addict to another.

My brown paper package arrived in this morning’s mail.

Inside: these jaw-droppingly, heart-stoppingly gorgeous textiles:

Like a chrysalis, who could have guessed at the beauty hidden under that brown paper carapace?

Its funny how some people just know your taste. My BIGGEST thanks go to Rachel for her astounding generosity.

So now its my turn to send her something pretty. Its a hard act to follow. Time to have a dig in my cupboard.

So good to share the love ♥

sunshine award

I’ve been given a sunshine award!

Thank you Rachel of my rainbow vintage home for thinking of me!

My mission – and I choose to accept it – is to answer the questions below.

Colour? Definitely. Plural. Preferably set against white. Current favourites: lilac, cornflower blue, mint green, turquoise, neon pink. Can’t pick just one.

Animal? Dog. Want one. Preferably big and bouncy, but not smelly. I don’t know if such a beast exists.

Non-alcoholic drink? Clipper Earl Grey Tea. Strong. With soya milk – the stuff in red cartons from the wholefood shop, not your chalky supermarket rubbish.

Facebook or Twitter? Twitter. My iPhone doesn’t get along with Facebook and life’s too short to waste waiting for stuff to load.

Getting or giving presents? Giving. Love choosing and wrapping. Too fussy to always like what I am given, but hate feeling ungrateful!

Flower? Sweet pea for scent, cornflower for colour.

Pattern? 1960s and 1970s florals. What else?!

Passion? Family & fabric, in that order.

Number? Three. Its a magic number don’t you know? I believe in magic. Always have, always will.

Now to pass on the ray of sunshine to five other worthy bloggers…
