pure pattern

As you will know, I am a big fan of pattern.

Florals in particular.

I like to layer pattern upon pattern.

And accompany it with another pattern.

Or two.

But these two quilts inspired me in a different way.

They are certainly patterned.

But their solid colours and geometric designs create a purity of form that adding more pattern would spoil.

Pure gorgeousness.

patchwork picture

At my contemporary patchwork class we were set a challenge: produce patchwork from a picture.

Rats, I thought. I don’t know what to do.

I had a week to find a suitable picture to turn into patchwork. I hunted high and low. I thought long and hard.

I floundered.

Finally, I remembered one of my many collections.

I had amassed lots of magazine photos of flowers with the intention of sticking them onto a wall or a piece of furniture.

The folder was fetched out. I rummaged and took along a selection.

I can’t find the original photo. But this was the result.

I would love to do another.
